Scandinavian Adventure (Finland)

We were told at the beginning of the program that there would be a week where we'd get a vacation from teaching, we all decided to go to three different places, Finland, Sweden and Norway (this was the first time they allowed the St. Petersburg group to travel all the way to Norway!)

On the bus at midnight on Oct. 30th
Our time in Finland was short lived, we only had about 6 hours there from the time our bus got in to when our ferry left, we got in really early in the morning (our bus left a little before midnight on Oct. 30th and it was about a 7 hour ride) so we ended up waiting at the weird bus/airport place until things started opening in Finland. We walked around and Victoria had to buy this Halloween pastry for the three of us to share from Finland.

It was pretty dang cute. We spent some time by the sea with all of our luggage and took pictures of the beauty surrounding us.

We went and found where our ferry would be leaving from and we got some lockers there for our bigger luggage (dragging bags around all the time gets tiring really fast) and then we found our way to the Helsinki temple, it was really beautiful and peaceful, so awesome that we got the opportunity to visit!

Once we took pictures and walked around the grounds we made our way back to the main part of the city and we went to the market to see what they had in terms of souvenirs and all that jazz.

This Finnish pastry was amazing

Unfortunately there wasn't much more that we did in Finland, but it was definitely a beautiful place and I'm glad we had the hours we did to see a few things and explore a bit.

We ate a little bit of food before heading to our ferry to board for the night, and by ferry I mean cruise ship because the boat we road from Finland to Sweden was giant! None of us expected it to be so big, since Halloween isn't really celebrated here I was surprised to see the crew dressed up for Halloween when we boarded.

We explored a bit of the ship when we first started going, but honestly we ended up crashing really early because Kelsey and I didn't sleep at all on the bus ride the night before so we were absolutely exhausted and when we woke up we were 2 hours outside of Sweden! It was beautiful to wake up, walk to the outside of the boat and to see this gorgeous view, knowing it would get even better.
